Sometimes class periods aren't the only thing you should discuss with your daughter during the school year. There are other periods that should be discussed, and by that I mean menstrual flow. I know, I know, it's not a subject near as exciting as world history or geography but it is a subject that needs to be discussed. I have been there, done that with two girls and have two more that could start their period at any moment.
I was in 5th grade when I first started my period and it happened during lunch hour at school. I was completely mortified and it didn't help that I didn't have the needed resources to take care of the problem. I bawled like a baby and called my mom to come pick me up. Luckily, she came to my rescue. Unluckily, it wasn't until I actually started my period that she discussed what it was and how it occurred.
I don't want my girls to have the same amount of mortification that I did so I've talked to them. The Kotex website has been a helpful resource for me to learn ways to discuss periods with my daughters and facts that I can inform them of. I've spoken with them of the warning signs to recognize so the surprise moments happen less often. As I mentioned in my last U by Kotex Tween post in August, I gave the two girls a quilted cosmetic bag filled with some items they may need while they are at school. It included a compact mirror, lip balm, an emery board, and U By Kotex Tween liners and pads. The pads and liners have colorful patterns and offer maximum coverage. The pads and liners fit well in the quilted cosmetic bag and will come in handy if needed during this school year.
I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate. The opinions within this post are of my own. Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services. Your opinions and results may differ.
