My Mirror Mirror Party

To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of Mirror Mirror I hosted a gathering at the campground with a few friends.  We painted our nails and toes, played a couple games, and ate refreshments.  We also hung out in the camper and watched Mirror Mirror together.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Tarsem Singh (Immortals), MIRROR MIRROR is a visually-spectacular, fresh and funny retelling of the classic Snow White legend. This family comedy features a star-studded cast including Academy Award®-winner Julia Roberts as the evil Queen, breakout star Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the Prince, and Golden Globe® nominee Nathan Lane as the hapless bungling servant to the Queen. The film also stars Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) as the King and Mare Winningham (Brothers) as Baker Margaret and showcases the stunning costumes from Academy Award®-winning designer Eiko Ishioka (Dracula).

The Blu-ray includes sparkling extras including a behind-the-scenes featurette, a toe-tapping dance-along to the reworked Nina Hart song “I Believe in Love” performed by the film’s Collins that plays over the end credits, interactive digital storybook, deleted scenes and much more.

MIRROR MIRROR tells the story of Snow White (Collins), a princess in exile and the evil Queen (Roberts) who ruthlessly rules her captured kingdom. Seven courageous rebel dwarfs join forces with Snow White as she fights to reclaim her birthright and win her Prince in this magical comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences the world over.  MIRROR MIRROR is available on Blu-ray and DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.  To add a little more fun to the Mirror Mirror party, everyone donned floral hats.  We discussed whether we had heard of the movie prior to seeing it.  All of the guests received branded nail files, bookmarks, nail brushes, and water bottles.

My son walked in on the party while it was going on so we made him don a floral hat as well.

We played Mirror Mirror word find and maze games.  The same person won both.

Once the outside festivities were over, we all watched the movie together.  Julia Roberts has always been a favorite actress for me, so I was excited to see her play the evil Queen, something different than the romantic or advocate I've seen before.  Julia didn't disappoint in Mirror Mirror!  She played the role of evil Queen well, and I enjoyed catching on to her sarcastic one-liners.

Mirror Mirror is a "remake" of Snow White so you can expect to see much of the storyline that you already know.  However, this isn't a straight-up kids' movie.  It's one for the entire family to enjoy.  The costumes and sets are showy and add exciting elements.  The dwarves were not very enjoyable and kind of grated on my nerves but, other than that, I enjoyed the movie.  The rest of the guests were glad they got to see it and we all agreed it was a fairly good movie.

I received products and DVD in exchange for this post.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products.  Your opinions and results may differ.

I'm not going to lie. I want one of those hats. LOL I love how your son walked in on the party and ended up with a floral hat himself ^.^

How fun! I haven't seen the movie yet myself, but it's on my to-see list along with several others.
