Plan A Summer "Stay-Cation" - #HormelFamily

With expensive gas prices and airfare, planning a vacation out of town mauy not fit into your family's budget this sumer.  Yet, there is no need to be disappointed about a missed vacation opportunity.

With a family of eight, a vacation is too costly and it's not always feasible for us all to get together at the same time, what with all the business of our daily lives and activites.  That's not to say we're not having fun this summer.  Instead of going on vacations, we stay fairly close to the area and go on "stay-cations".

Our summer has already been packed with fun activities and it hasn't cost us an arm and a leg.  We spend a lot of weekends and some weeknights at our campsite at the local campground.  We go swimming, listen to live bands, ride golf carts, play Bingo, and enjoy each other's company.  If we're not camping, we like to head a couple hours away to the drag strip to watch cars drag race.

Food is usually a big deal when we are camping or drag racing.  Usually the entire group gets together to plan a big meal and we all eat together.  Everyone pitches in on the meat and each family brings a couple side dishes.  Hormel Foods has several recipes that I've used this year and because Hormel Foods is quality food, it's always welcomed at our meals.  Last weekend at camp one dish that I created was Mixed Up Munchies, a snack for the kids to munch on.  It was a favorite and I'll definitely be making it again.  It's super easy to make, doesn't cost a lot, doesn't require a lot of ingredients, and tastes yummy.

Ingredients:

1 (3.5 ounce) bag microwave popcorn
1 (15 ounce) bag prepared cheese-flavored snack mix
1 cup Hormel pepperoni minis

Directions:

1.  Prepare popcorn according to package directions.
2.  In large bowl, toss together popcorn, snack mix and pepperoni minis

Are you going on vacation this summer or are you planning a stay-cation?

I'm doing little bitty trips this summer to make it more affordable. :)

This sounds great, especially with the pepperoni added.

This sounds like a great snack idea. My kids love pepperoni and this would be great to try.
