Hormel Foods Corporate Responibility - #HormelFamily

What are important initiatives that you make a priority in your home?  What do you consider when choosing what companies to support?  When I am loyal to a company it's usually because of the price and quality of their products.  Other things I look for are whether the company supports a cause or charity and if they are taking measures to reduce waste in packaging.

In mid-May, Hormel Foods released their annual Corporate Responsibility Report where they describe the progress of their corporate responsibility initiatives.  A few of the 2011 initiatives that had great results included:

Package reduction:

Reduced packaging by 4.2 million pounds

Sodium reduction:

Hormel Cure 81 retail hams, 14 percent reduction
Hormel Compleats microwave meals, 18 percent reduction
Hormel chili, 16 percent reduction

Philanthropy:

Contributed more than $5.5 million to local communities and hunger initiatives, including donating to 16 hunger relief organizations in Hormel Foods plant communities

You can check out more of Hormel Foods corporate initiatives in the 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report.

I wrote this post as part of the Hormel Foods Extended Family Blogger Program and received products.  Please do your own research before purchasing products or using services.  Your opinions and results may differ.
