I wouldn't say that I'm a leader in environmentalism or eco-friendliness, but there are a few steps that I've been in the habit of for a while now. One way that I try to reduce my carbon footprint is by recycling. My city actually has a recycling program where they will come around and pick up our cardboard, aluminum, and paper products once a week. It saves on the money we have to pay for trash stickers and I feel good knowing that the products aren't just being dumped in a landfill to lay for several years.
Rubbermaid recently introduced the Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler that gets recyclables off the counter and hidden out of sight. Features of the product include:
Easy attachment to a cabinet door with hoods included with the product or screws
A convenient handle allows the bag to easily be transported to wherever your recycling is stored for pick-up or transport.
A 5 gallon bag that holds up to 36 12-ounce cans and can fit a milk jug
The bag has a leak-proof liner and is machine washable to make it easy to clean after any unexpected spills.
The bag is soft-sided allowing for flexibility inside any cabinet.
The bag and all packaging is made from recyclable material, and the product is recyclable.
The Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler comes packaged in compact form. Minor assembly is required and hardware is included. Although it wasn't hard to put together, it's not one of those products that can just be constructed without first reading the instructions. I'll admit, I tried bypassing the instructions and going straight to the construction. It didn't go so well! That's because there's a specific way for the lid to go on and for the top of the cloth to stay in place on the plastic handles. After I read the instructions (which I should've done in the first place), it was easy sailing.
Win It!
One person will win a Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler.
