Cake Sugar Designs - Review and Giveaway

Shelby's 18th birthday party was last Sunday.  My mom usually makes cupcakes for each kid's party and she obliged to making them again for Shelby's party.  I always provide the cupcake toppers or picks that I'd like to go on top of the cupcakes.  Recently, I came upon a company that creates edible icing toppers.  It's a concept I never heard of before and wanted to learn more about.

Cake Sugar Designs edible icing toppers merge with your frosting, producing a completely smooth texture which you can easily cut or bite through.  These delicate, customizable toppers can be made with your design or one of their many designs. There are designs available for birthdays, holidays, baby showers, custom photos, and bridal parties.  Just place one on each little cake and wait for the fun to begin!  The company prints on thin sheets of edible icing using food-grade inks that are FDA approved, Gluten free, allergy free, calorie free and Kosher certified.  

 I received a set of personalized cupcake decals for review and chose the zebra print.  The cupcake toppers came in a sheet of 12 and each was two inches round.  I had them personalized with the words "Happy 18th Birthday Shelby" and stored them in the included plastic until they were ready for use.

My mother created the cupcakes and I applied toppers to them on the day of the party.  A few of the toppers did not remove easily from the baking sheet so I placed it in the freezer for three minutes.  After that, I lifted them off the baking sheet and placed them on the cupcakes.  For best results, cupcakes should be flat as possible on top.  My mother didn't follow this rule of thumb for all the cupcakes so there was a slight bulge when some of the toppers were applied.  Guests were impressed with the cupcake toppers.  The cupcake toppers didn't have any noticeable taste to them, so they didnt' distract from the taste of the cupcakes or frosting.  I think the cupcake toppers gave a nice added touch to the cupcakes and made them more personal to Shelby's party.
