The Whiplash combines Street Surfing's "Wave" board technology with a traditional scooter, creating an invigorating side-to-side, whip-like ride. Part scooter, part Wave board, its unique caster design, flexing deck and handlebar fuse together providing riders with an exciting thrill. Users can self-propel the Whiplash so that their feet never touch the ground, or ride it like a kick scooter. Riders can quickly develop new tricks through the motion of bent knees, the swivel of hips and the shifting of their weight.
The Whiplash arrived needing assembly but it was easy enough that my 13 year old son was able to put it together in a short period of time. The handlebars are adjustable and the rear wheel rotates 360 degrees. An owner's manual is included, which I recommend be read thoroughly before riding the scooter because the Whiplash is not like a traditional scooter your kids may be used to.
The Whiplash is ridden by placing it on a slight downward slope and placing your back foot in the center of the back platform of the scooter. With your front foot and weight forward, you can give the scooter a push. Your body should be straightened and knees bent. As soon as you've pushed off on the scooter, you start twisting motions by moving the handlebars with your shoulders and your hips back and forth continually. The experience is like you're moving in an "S" shape.
It's best to use the Whiplash on level ground and wear safety gear. Logan and Adam had some slight trouble getting the hang of the scooter at first, but they were able to successfullly ride down the road in a smooth transition after making a few practice rounds. I even tried it a couple times myself. The Whiplash is a really neat scooter to take rides on, especially after you've become proficient with it. On days when weather doesn't permit the boys to go outside on their Whiplash, I've let them give it a whirl in the kitchen, taking turns around the table. Logan and Adam are thrilled with the Whiplash scooter and can't wait to take it to the campground during the weekends when weather gets warmer so they can go for long stretches of rides on it. When not in use, the scooter folds down for compact storage.
Win It!
Two people will each win a Whiplash Scooter.

The weight limit for all Street Surfing casterboards is 250 pounds. The torsion bar tension is the same on all Wave Boards, so it's just as easy to learn on the Original Wave as it is on any of the lighter boards.
