Birdkage - Review and Giveaway

Designer Courtney Kivela is owner of birdkage, a company of aprons and tea towels.  In her birdkage line are ten collections to match your personality and kitchen decor.  Inspired by various elements in Kivela's life, birdkage™ offers details such as metal studs and "sail cloth" grommets. Metal D-Rings adorn every apron from which to hang towels, and each collection is named after streets of Manhattan. All aprons are made of 100% natural fabrics and come packaged in muslin drawstring bags.

I received a set of two tea towels and a bib apron from the Bowery collection.  These aren't your commonplace, mediocre tea towels or aprons.  I have a couple of cute aprons and some tea towels already, but none compare to the detail and sturdiness of the ones from Birdkage.  Previous aprons I've used look really nice the first time, but wrinkle easily after being washed.  I didn't experience that with the birdkage apron. 

The apron from the Bowery collection is made to resemble leopard print, so my husband and I have both used it.  It's not too girly and it's not too manly.  It fully covers the length of our bodies.  The double-front pocket is detailed with antique brass metal studs and the signature birdkage™ embossed metal d-ring.  When either of us need a place to hang our tea towels for a short moment, we can put it in the loop of the d-ring.  The back has ties to give a snug fit.  This is the heaviest apron I've ever worn.  It's not made to look or feel cheap.  During the holidays I will be doing more baking than usual and will be attending cookie swap parties.  I'll be wearing the Bowery collection apron each time and will take it with me in the muslin drawstring bag it came in.

The set of tea towels I received match the apron and are made of the same quality fabric, 100% leopard printed cotton canvas.  They are somewhat stiff at first, but become softer and more absorbent with each wash.  The tea towels fit well in the d-ring of the apron.  When I'm not using the tea towels, they hang over my stove handles because I like how pretty they are.  These tea towels and aprons are both functional and stylish.
