Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked - Wii Game Review

Game Synopsis:

Alvin, Simon, Theodore and The Chipettes are at it again in this exciting, motion picture-based video game experience.  The game is set aboard a luxury cruise liner that gets turned into their personal playground, and on a deserted island on which they've become 'chipwrecked'.  Players can dance along with the 'munks' as their dance moves are tracked on the Kinect for Xbox 360 and Wii versions.

Alvin and the Chipmunks:  Chipwrecked features 30 songs on Kinect for Xbox 360 and Wii versions, and 18 tracks in the Nintendo DS version of the game.  Continuing the holiday tradition that The Chipmunks have brought to families worldwide, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked brings songs from the past and present for all generations to share and enjoy together, and dance like never before.

My Review:

At the end of last year, when Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel came out in theater, it was a madhouse trying to get in to the theater to see the movie.  My family was bound and determined to it.  We fought through three sold-out shows and were herded like cattle to see the movie.  I have a feeling the same will happen this year.  My kids are already begging to see the newest movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked when it comes to theater later this year. I received the Wii game version of Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked for review.  After the kids have played it a few times, it only further enhances their excitement to see the movie.

Players can choose from any of the Chipmunks or Chipettes as their character, then perform from fifty different dance moves by following the moves on the screen in synchronization.  You earn more points for being close to the beat.  There's a "Munk Power" meter that increased your score when it's filled.  There are thirty hit songs to dance from.  Some of them include Kids in America, La Bamba, Beat It, Love Shack, and Karma Chameleon.  Based upon your performance, you can earn different types of trophies to put in display.

Players can do the game solo or two players can battle it out for the highest score in the Co-Op mode.  Each Chipmunk or Chipette can be customized from a selection of shirts, hats, glasses and blind.  Six destinations are featured as backgrounds.

Alvin and the Chipmunks:  Chipwrecked is a game that's fun for the entire family.  We've been amused and entertained dancing along to the sound of the Chipmunks and Chipettes singing to songs that are familiar to us.  This game gives us a chance to get up and move while stuck indoors during the cold weather.  The lyrics are acceptable and clean, while the dance moves are catchy.  Sometimes, my husband's nerves get grated when he has to listen to the "high pitched squirrel noises" coming from the singing Chipmunks for a long period of time.  Other than that, we all like to get our groove on and play this game.
I received game for review.  The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way.  Please do your own research before purchasing products.  Your opinions and results may differ.

What a cute game. My granddaughter has a Wii and not many games - she'd love this. I'll have to be on the lookout for it when I'm out shopping.
