I may not live in Missouri, but Cardinals fever is huge in my neck of the woods. It's all about the World Series right now and we're rooting for the Redbirds. Myself, I'd rather watch paint dry than view sports on TV. But I don't dare try to change the channel.

My daughter, Shelby, got an acceptance letter to the college of her choice, Monmouth. She's over the moon and I'm happy for her too. I won't tell her but I'm also pretty sad because that means she'll become an adult and will officially be moving away in less than a year. I'm already having panic attacks thinking about it.

I went to my son, Adam's, parent/teacher conference the other day and got all sort of mixed reviews. Seems he's got Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Syndrome. Two teachers raved how great he was. Another teacher, it was apparent their consensual feelings of hate. One teacher has him in two classes, algebra and reading. She says he's a jewel in algebra and causes no problems. On the flip side, he turns into Satan's spawn during reading. Sure befuddles me.

My step-daughter, Allyson, got word yesterday that she got hired working at The Vanity Fair in the mall. It's her first job. She'll do it part-time. Yay for her!

Friday is our last day of camping for the season. I have very mixed emotions about it. I've seen more drama than Peyton's Place the last seven months but it's been one heck of a joyride. I'm sure the break is needed but I'll be jonesin' for April to come back around so we can do it all over again.

The geniuses who tell you that Halloween costumes are very flammable are sooo not kidding. I was wearing a long sorcerer's gown last Saturday, standing around a bonfire at camp, when a spark flew up and caught on my gown. Next thing I know, it's a huge flame of fire up my left side and I start freakin out. Totally forgot the lifesaving Stop, Drop, and Roll. Luckily, people were around and noticed. One threw a beverage at me and put it out. Received minor burns on my left side and thumb. Costume and shirt underneath, however, couldn't be saved. Let me tell you, I thanked my lucky stars and Jesus.

October is one of my favorite months because of all the scary movies. I could watch them all the time. Only one that traumatizes me is Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy haunted me for years. What's your favorite scary movie?

I don't do scary movies but if I had to choose a favorite, I'd pick Jeepers Creepers because of the part where the boy and girl look down into a creepy dark storm drain and think it's a good idea to go inside. Brilliant!
Wow, glad everything turned out relatively okay for you with that burning costume scare. I guess it's safe to say, you won't be standing near an open fire again with a Halloween costome on ever, huh?
RTT: The Evil Tryant is Dead to Necco Candy to Colored Pencils to Christmas Cards
We have the same Jekyl/Hyde syndrome with our boy. Apparently his behavior and attitude are influenced by which kids are in the class with him.
I am into all the scary movies too. I keep DVRing them to watch when I can.
