Purina Pet Gear - Review and Giveaway

In July my family acquired a family dog.  Cisco is seven years old and has brought us much joy in the last three months.  We've owned dogs before but it had been a long time.  It took us as much getting used to Cisco as it did for him to get used to us.  I'm learning what pet gear works for us and the dog.  Purina, a company well-known for pet food, has launched a new line called Purina Pet Gear.

Purina is now offering the best in pet accessories with dog and cat gear.  Their complete line of products are created from your pet's point of view.  Purina Pet Gear is challenging consumers to partake in the Try Me Free Rebate from now until October 31st.  By purchasing one Purina Pet Gear Training Pads 20 count carton at any Wal-Mart store and getting the rebate form on the Purina Pet Gear Facebook page, consumers can receive a rebate for the amount of the purchase, up to $8, while supplies last.  They are also offering the DryStep Challenge where you can try Purina Pet Gear Ultra Dry Training Pads for just one week.  If they aren't the best you've ever used, a pack of your usual brand is on them.

Purina Pet Gear was kind enough to send me three of their products for review.  First was the Carpet & Upholstery Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator.  Rarely does Cisco have accidents, but I've had to use this spray a few times when he has.  The pro-enzyme formula eliminates pet stains and odors.  When I need to use it, I spray some on my carpet and let it set for a little bit before wiping it up.  I had actually bought a spray similar to this one when I got Cisco and my carpet turned colors when I wiped the mess up.  I've had no experience of that happening with the Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator from Purina Pet Gear.  And, as much as I love Cisco, I don't care for the smell of dog.  This spray comes in handy for masking those odors.

Cisco is housebroken, thank goodness.  Again, it's rare but he sometimes has accidents.  It's usually when he has runny stools or when we are away from home for a long time and are unable to take him out.  The Ultra Dry Training Pads are most suited for housetraining a dog, but they've been nice to have for Cisco's kennel.  When he needs to be inside his kennel and is unable to go outside to potty, the training pads make clean-up easier.  I can't vouch for how to housetrain a dog with them, but I can say they've provided superior dryness when Cisco needs to use them.  They save me from cleaning up a big mess.

The Ultra Dry Training Pads have a DryStep Ultraweave Cover that absorbs fast and has one-way microfunnels to quickly channel urine into the core and trap it there.  The super-absorbent gel core provides maximum absorbency for all day protection and the edge-barrier technology guards against side leaks.  I've never used training pads for a dog before, but I am satisfied with how they work inside Cisco's kennel to keep it from being messy and keep leaks from coming through.

Cisco sheds so much that I have to vacuum at least once a day, usually twice.  The fact that he rubs all over the couch and brushes up against people isn't helpful.  It's hair, hair everywhere.  The Ultra Pet Hair Roller has sixty sheets of sticky tape to remove pet hair.  I use it on my couch frequently.  Using it like a lint roller, I swipe it back and forth across my couch and clothing to remove pet hair.  I then tear off the sheets that I've used and throw them in the trash.  The Ultra Pet Hair Roller is effective in removing fur but it seems like I have to use several sheets at once.

Win It!

Five people will each win a pack of Ultra Dry Training Pads.

Three dogs with tenuous house training, I would love to try some new training pads. I currently use the Arm & Hammer which are a bit on the expensive side and not too absorbent.
