Quest For Zhu - DVD Review and Giveaway

I've posted about Quest for Zhu on my blog a few times and the wait for the movie is almost over.  Debuting September 27th, 2011, the "Quest for Zhu" brings the magical Zhu-niverse to life in 3-D stereoscopic animation. Starring the four original ZhuZhu Pets® characters (Pipsqueak, Mr. Squiggles, NumNums and Chunk), the "Quest for Zhu" is an adventurous, heartwarming and heroic tale that Zhu-natics of all ages are sure to love!

DVD Synopsis:

The first ever ZhuZhu Pets movie is a heartwarming tale of four lively teens (who just happen to be hamsters) on a quest to find the Place of Zhu, where they believe all their dreams will come true.  Join the feisty and lovable Pipsqueak as she gets swept away to the other side of the Zhuniverse.  On her adventure, she befriends Chunk, Num Nums and Mr. Squiggles.  When they arrive at the Palace of Zhu, they realize it is just the beginning of their remarkable journey.  A mean and controlling reptilian creature, Mezhula, tries to stand in the way of making all their dreams come true.  By working together, the Zhu heroes save the day.  Pipsqueak realizes she already had everything she ever dreamed of and all she really wants is to find a way back home.

My Review:

MomSelect gave me the opportunity to view Quest for Zhu with my children.  In addition to the DVD, we received limited edition Quest for Zhu figurines, a Twizzlers movie snack, and an authentic movie poster.  My kids have been fans of ZhuZhu Pets since they were first introduced and we were all excited to watch the movie together.  My kids are tweens and teens but they still liked the plot and graphics.  With forgiveness and friendship being key components in the movie, it gives children good ethics to relate to while matching a movie that's full of amusement and wonder.  Pipsqueak was the favorite character among my kids, namely because she's so darn cute and lovable.  There were several settings in the movie, with Carrot Forest being our favorite.  Katie, the human owner of Pipsqueak, is relatable and the ZhuZhu Pets are fun to watch.  The music in the movie is entertaining and there's even two sing-along music videos included in the DVD.  The ABC song was catchy and I caught my kids singing along to it.  The kids were not fans of Mezhula, understandably, but weren't scared of the villain.  There is the possiblity that smaller children may be daunted by Mezhula.  Unlike some movies with animal animation, the ZhuZhu Pets spoke clearly with their cute voices.  Being the first ZhuZhu Pets movie, it was a hit among the kids and they hope to see more come out in the future.
