In the electronic game of Math Slam, you read the question, scan the possible answers, and slam the one that’s correct. Better move quickly, though, each game of 10 questions is timed— the faster you get through the questions, the better your score! Incorrect responses are recycled until they are correctly answered. Three levels, flashing lights, and fun sound effects keep players interested.
This summer has been an off-time for my kids. They haven't kept in touch a whole lot with their educational skills and instead have been packing in summer activities. That doesn't mean that I've let them off the hook completely though. It's important to keep their minds sharp and focused on important subject matters. This game is definitely one way to keep my kids interested in math!
Math Slam reinforces important math concepts such as sequencing, addition and subtraction facts, triple addition and subtraction, and missing numbers. This electronic game takes 3 C batteries which are not included (wish they were). A headphone jack is on it for individualized listening and there's even a volume dial. To keep the batteries from dying, ther game automatically shuts down after 30 seconds of inactivity.
In a math game of speed and skill, there are different levels to chose from based upon which numbers you'd like to work with. There are also different games to choose from such as Triple Slam! where the player adds and/or subtracts from three different numbers. Once the player has chosen the game and level they want to go with, game play goes on by pressing the numbers on the answer paddle to give a response to the mathematical equation that appears in the LCD window. If an incorrect answer is pressed, the player will be asked again at the end of the game. Once all ten problems have correctly been answered, the player's elapsed time will appear in the window.
My four younger children have had a blast playing Math Slam and seeing who amongst them gets the quickest elapsed time. They have found that it's easier to play it in dim light or inside rather than in direct sunlight so the screen can be seen better. Math Slam is a game of fast-moving action that sneaks in fun with learning!
Win It!
One person will win Math Slam.
