Wordful Wednesday - Mother Nature Blows

Very early Monday morning we were woke up to what sounded like the end of the world as we know it.  The rain fell from the sky in a downpour and the lightning looked like bad strobe lights at a rave party.  Since we had no power and no way to entertain ourselves, we ventured around town to survey the damage.  It was pretty insane.  The streets were lined with a maze of uprooted trees.  Over 15,000 homes were without electricity.  Our county had been declared in a state of emergency.

This tree was uprooted in front of my husband's boss' home.  As you can see, the whole base was completely taken out of the ground.  At the business where my husband works, two windows were completely shattered.  Speaking of work, I had the night off or I would've been taking the six hundred million calls that came in at the dispatch center, then would've been begging for a Xanax.  Many kudos to my fellow co-workers who had their arses handed to them and dealt with the mess.

My sister's yard looked like a forest surrounded it.

If you look closely to the right, you'll see what once was a fully-constructed car.  Now it's been reduced to rubbage.

This barn lost its roof and siding.

My nephew, Ozzy, along with his dad and my husband worked hard to clean up my sister's yard.

My mother's car now has free air conditioning in the back.

Camp got hit pretty hard too.  These people had nothing left of their outdoor decorations.

Behind this pile of golf cart and trees is a camper.  It was completely unvisible due to all the greenery atop it.

yeah we had a tree come down here too! But we were lucky because basically all we lost was a rear windshield wiper on my mom's van!
