GeoSafari Tuff Scope - Review and #Giveaway

Educational Insights, a manufacturer of educational toys and games, has provided many hours of play to my children. Simply set up as a classroom station or remove the microscope from the base and send kids outdoors to explore. When used with the GeoSafari® Tuff Cam digital video camera, GeoSafari® Tuff Scope transforms into a digital microscope, projecting magnified images onto a computer screen or projector. Also features 2x continuous optical zoom, transmissive and reflective LED lighting, and a storage drawer.

My boys are all boys.  Meaning that dirt and bugs interest them greatly.  They want to know the hows and whys of things.  Having educational tools to help garner their interest is important to me.  The GeoSafari Tuff Scope is a fun and educational way for the boys to see specimens up close.  It works much like a regular microscope with a focusing dial and zoom dial.  It also has a mini storage drawer, specimen slide clips, and reflective LED. 

By placing the specimen slide on the specimen stage and securing it with the slide clips, the kids can see their specimens up close with the desired magnification.  The zoom dial has three stages of zoom magnification.  The microscope itself is portable and images can be viewed with it while exploring nature.  Dead mosquitos, cicadas, flys, and ants have been subject to being under the microscope.  The kids have also used it to zoom in on images of cotton, newspaper print, and other fibers.  The GeoSafari Tuff Scope has a Tuff Cam that's sold separately for kids to shoot their own footage and project the microscopic images onto a computer screen, white board, or projection screen.  Although I think the Tuff Cam would make a wonderful accessory to the Tuff Scope, it is not necessary.
