Discount School Supply - Review and #Giveaway

My kids like to do things with arts and crafts and tend to keep their projects for quite some time. I like to see their creativity at work and always hold their handmade creations near and dear.

Discount School Supply has lots of fun arts & crafts for kids to do, as well as manipulatives, furniture, and dramatic play. And, of course, the name alone spells out one thing they sell: school supplies. Discount School Supply produced its first catalog in 1985 and has since grown to become a direct-marketing leader in the early childhood school supply market. The majority of their supplies are geared towards younger children, but there are some geared towards older kids as well.  In August of last year, I did a review of their canvas lunch bags and I'm happy to work with this company again for Terra's Two Year Blog Bash.

My sister has an anniversary celebration coming up next week.  She has requested that guests wear tie-dye shirts to the event.  The Ultimate Tie Dye Kit from Discount School Supply was pefect for making the shirts.  The kit includes instructions, applicator bottles, fixer, gloves, rubber bands, and 5 different colored dyes.  The gloves keep hands protected, but it's important to have a covered work area to prevent big messes.  It takes only three easy steps to create tie-dye projects.  The applicator tips on the bottles made it a smooth process.  Me and the kids had fun making our own designs on shirts and we were all able to do it with ease.

Another project we took on was decorating Canvas Pillow Cases with Colorations Fabric Paint Pens.  Available in a set of twelve, there were plenty of pillowcases for each kids to create and color.  The pillow cases do not fit standard bed pillows; however, they fit travel pillows or can be filled with batting.  We chose to fill them with batting for extra softness.  There is a zipper on the back of each pillowcase for easy stuffing and changing.  Being that the pillowcases are canvas, they were a breeze to work with and the kids created a pillowcase for themselves to have their own special pillows at camp.  The pillowcases can be decorated with most anything, but the kids used Colorations Fabric Paint Pens.  With a total of 24 paint pens, the kids did not have to wait for a special color they wanted to use.  The paint from the pens came out smoothly and they were manageable to work with.  The paint did not dry quickly, so once the pillow cases were decorated the kids had to spread them out and wait a couple days for them to dry before use. 

The kids' creations were not perfect by any artist's standards, but they were their own masterpieces and each kid was super proud of what they made.
