Moonjar - Review and #Giveaway

I'm all about teaching my kids the value of a dollar. Saving money and watching for deals is something that I'd like to pass on to them.  I will sometimes take my kids to the store and buy them a treat on my behalf, no strings attached. But, for the most part, they are expected to work for their money in the form of chores or doing helpful things for others. If there's something they really want, they know they need to save up most or all of the money to get it.

Moonjar is a company that helps kids of all ages learn about money and financial success. Managing money, hard work, strong financial ethics, and thoughtful decision making are the values behind Moonjar. They are committed to creating products that encourage communication and that empower children with basic life skills.  Two products I received to review for Terra's Two Year Blog Bash were a Conversations To Go game and the Classic Moonjar Moneybox.

Conversations To Go:  The Game that has Everyone talking has made for great dinnertime conversations among me and the kids.  It comes in a box filled with 100 slips of paper with open-ended questions.  We take turns drawing a slip out of the box, reading the question on it, and going around the table to share our answers.  It's interesting to see what everyone comes up with.  A couple of examples of questions to answer are "What did you do last year that you would never do this year?" and "People who ____ have the most courage in the world".  This game is a great way to open up conversation and to understand other people's views and ideas.

I gave The Classic Moonjar to our youngest girl.  This moneybox helps her see how much money she has and the end result. This three-sectioned colored moneybox is divided into Save, Share, and Spend. It includes a passbook to track transactions and a band to keep the three sections together.  The Classic Moneyjar has been helpful to her and she likes sorting money into the three sections, determining how much is going to go into each.

Win It!
