Monkey Pod Games - Review and #Giveaway

At Monkey Pod Games you will find a huge variety of wooden brainteasers, puzzles, and family games. On the fun side they have created games that can be used for a great family night and  have developed brainteasers which can be solved by oneself or as a team. Many of their puzzles are also educational which build mathematical awareness as well as social and analytical skills.

Monkey Pod Games is named after the Monkey Pod tree, which is the wood from which the puzzles are made.  Monkey Pod Games challenged me once before with their games and I'm glad to have them back for Terra's Two Year Blog Bash.

The Monkey Pod Games Wooden Tangram Set - Large Shape Cards is a game of people, animals, and objects to replicate.  It includes fifty glossy silhouette cards with three categories of silhouettes, animals, people, and objects.  The object of the puzzle is to form a specific shape using all seven wooden pieces without overlappig any of them.  There are varying degrees of difficulty, with solutions printed on the back of each card.

This Tangram Set is a game of focus and problem-solving abilities.  Me, my husband, and the kids have all worked to replicate shapes on the cards.  Some were fairly easy, while others took a lot of mental strength.  Sometimes the kids would get frustrated and want to give up, but they were elated when they were able to solve the cards that had a higher degree of difficulty.  The wooden storage box is crafted beautifully and makes it nice to store all the pieces in. 

The Enigma Collection:  Metal Brain Teasers Gift Set II is a collection of four brain teasers designed to make you think and envision the solution as you twist and turn the parts in an effort to separate the pieces from each other.  The four brain teasers, each made of coated metal, come in their own box constructed of hand-crafted wood.

Just looking at the metal pieces, you wouldn't think it'd be that hard to separate the pieces.  It took me some time, however, to figure out what moves I needed to make for the pieces to come apart from each other.  It was definitely an exercise of the brain, but I enjoyed the challenge.  My husband was able to figure it out quicker than I was.  I have the rectangular wooden box with the pieces inside displayed on my end table in the living room.  A few people that have come over to visit have spent time with the brain teasers, seeing for themselves if they can figure them out or not.  They're a perplexing, but pleasing test of the mind.

The puzzles, books, and games at Monkey Pod Games have varying levels. If you're a genius (and I'm not!) you can purchase books and brainteasers that will show your true skill. There are also kid's learning puzzles for the younger ones to explore and play with. And there's something for everyone in between.
