NOVICA gives artists and artisans around the world a platform to express their artistic talents and creativity. NOVICA strives to provide you with unique, hard-to-find items from talented artisans from places such as Thailand, Peru, Bali, Mexico, and other countries. Whether it be home decor, jewelry, paintings, or apparel, NOVICA has beautifully crafted items that are hard to find anywhere else.
When first choosing a selected item for review from NOVICA, I spent a long time pondering and reading about who made the items and how they crafted them. I was in awe of the beauty and richness of the works made by those in different parts of the world.
My first selection of choice was a ring. I'm infatuated with rings as some women are to shoes and handbags. NOVICA has beautiful rings in all shapes and designs. Unfortunately, most only go up to a size 7. I have big fingers so I was unable to make a selection from my first choice. I'd love to see more rings available in sizes 9 and 10 for those with bigger fingers.
I was not too miffed though because there was still a grand selection of items to choose from. Again, I spent a long time deciding because I found so many things with character. My eyes seemed to keep being drawn to the wood sculptures, with their originality and distinctive looks. The wood sculpture I chose was Yogi in Meditation.
My wood sculpture arrived in a beautifully wrapped package with a decoration adorning the outside of it. Inside, the sculpture itself was carefully wrapped to prevent damage during shipment. A miniature postcard and artisan story card arrived with it.
The sculpture itself exceeds my expectations. It has been quite a conversation starter. I own many knicknacks and home decorations, but this one seems to always bring attention. I've had people ask me what it is and where it came from. People are fascinated by the overall design. I see serenity and strong will when I look at the sculpture. The wood itself is shiny and smooth. It is now one of my favorite pieces, both for the design and the story it portrays. The bottom of the sculpture is carved with the name of the artist, Luh Mas Sri Pertamiari from Bali and Java. She is a female wood carver who happens to share the same birthday as me. Her talent is remarkable.
