Chuggington: Let's Ride the Rails - DVD Review and Giveaway

DVD Synopsis:

My Review:

I was only vaguely aware of Chuggington until recently. I hadn't watched any of the episodes, but I'd seen some of the toys and products that are available. Before watching the show, my first impression was that I liked the overall appeal of the trains. That was based upon visual impression of what products I'd seen.

Apparently I'm way behind in knowing about the show on Playhouse Disney. When Chuggington: Let's Ride the Rails arrived at my home, I was surprised when the teenage girls screamed like Justin Beiber fans. They already knew all about Chuggington and informed me they watch it almost every morning before getting ready for school.

Wait, hold the phone! Teenage girls excited over Chuggington?! I had to know what the allure was. So I sat down with the kids to watch the newest Chuggington DVD. It didn't take me long to see what made them like the talking trains.

Chuggington is CGI-animated, giving a realistic and dimensional feel to the show. The trains are just too darn cute and have a genuine like for each other. The other characters in the show, like the conductors, look and speak like real people. Unlike some shows that have characters who speak gibberish, the characters on Chuggington have a vocabulary that is plain and easy to understand.

I'm aware that my teenagers are probably in the minority by being Chuggington fans at their age. The show and the DVD are geared for preschoolers and I'm sure there's more of a fan base in that age category. But after watching Chuggington: Let's Ride the Rails, I've got to say I've become a fan myself. This mom endorses it, regardless of how young or old you are.
