Yep, I'm another year older (and wiser?) today.

My family threw a birthday party for me at my sister's home yesterday. I received lots of thoughtful gifts. I also had homemade jello cake, made by my oldest step-daughter, which I requested. It was a nice gathering surrounded by loved ones.


The Jell-O cake may not have been fancy, but it was oh-so-delicious. One was strawberry and the other was black velvet. It beat a store bought cake anyday.


Balloons are a staple at every family birthday party.


I received a $20 gift card to Cato. I've never been shopping there, but can't wait to go now. I also received a lottery ticket. I scratched it off with a lucky quarter from my younger nephew and won $20.


Black fuzzy socks were a gift that will keep my feet warm. Also received was a sherpa and polyester tote with a throw blanket made of the same material inside. I slept with the blanket last night and it is soooo soft.


More socks and Christmas shower gel were other gifts I received, along with Premium Dark Chocolate covered M&Ms. The three necklaces were handmade by my mother and sister. They've recently started making beaded jewelry and their work is beautiful.


I had a Christmas request for tie-dye shirts and received two for my birthday, as well as another handmade necklace.



More presents included another pair of socks, box of Junior Mints, a store-bought necklace, and a Christmas tin.



A foot spa set and a cinnamon apple candle were also gifts I received. Not included, but also appreciated, was a pair of winter boots from my husband. I received those early.

I'm happy with what I got and had a wonderful birthday party, but I'm in no hurry for next year's. With more birthdays comes another year added on, and I'm not getting any younger.

For my actual birthday today, I will be lounging around the house. Sounds like a winning plan to me!
