Zhu Zhu Pets - Holiday Gift Guide Review

By now I'm sure you've heard of Zhu Zhu Pets, the realistic, interactive, plush hamsters that talk, move, and navigate their way around. They were one of the hottest toys of the holiday season last year and are on the top of the list this year. The line has expanded since first coming out, with new hamsters and new accessories.

Thanks to MomSelect, I was able to receive some of the newest items from Zhu Zhu Pets and let my kids and a few friends try them out. It was hard to keep the kids' excitement contained when the boxes arrived. They wanted to check out the stuff immediately. I let them give the products a lookover, then arranged a date for them and a handful of friends to play with the new items.

The first thing the kids did was dress their Zhu Zhu Pets in outfits made especially for them. I didn't have to fight and fidget with getting the clothing on the hamsters. There are plastic holders on most pieces, so all the kids had to do was push the clothing on the hamster and it stayed in place. Even in movement, the clothes did not fall off. The hamsters looked so cute all dressed up in their outfits.

For the girls, there were Zhu Zhu Pets Deluxe Carriers. Too darn cute! The girls toted their Zhu Zhu Pets around in the carriers. The boys were somewhat disappointed, expressing a wish that there were carriers made for boys.

Also for the girls was a Zhu Zhu Pets Grooming Salon Playset.
It can be used alone or connected together with other playsets. There is a seat for the Zhu Zhu Pet to sit in and get their "hair dried" with a hair dryer that really works. On the salon is a mirror. Batteries are needed, but the mirror lights up. Included are brushes and grooming supplies. The girls thought this was one of the neatest Zhu Zhu Pets playsets they've used yet. I smiled watching them pretend to be stylists with their Zhu Zhu Pets.

The Zhu Zhu Pets Rock Star Hamsters are like the original, with mohawks. The like for them was equal between both the boys and girls. As the warning indicates on the box, it is important to keep Zhu Zhu Pets away from hair.

The love for Zhu Zhu Pets hasn't waned. The kids had a heyday at the playdate and have continued to play with their hamsters and accessories. We can't wait to see what Zhu Zhu Pets comes out with next!

I received products for review on behalf of MomSelect. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products. Your opinions and results may differ.
