Book Synopsis:
The Club No One Wanted To Join: Madoff Victims in Their Own Words is the first book of its kind about the Madoff Ponzi Scheme, in which twenty-nine Madoff investors band together to tell their story without an intermediary, directly to the public, and in their own words. Baring private details and exposing the truth about who the real victims are, they don't hold back as to who really enabled the sceme to continue for forty years. The readers need to know what the authorities would rather keep from them, or else they are destined to become the next victims. The book's message is "this can happen to anyone".
This is the story of financial devastation, of lessons learned, of hope and rebirth. It has been more than a year since the fraud came to light and the survivors are now ready to share their experience and the hard lessons learned with the public. The survivors all have one thing in common: they were robbed of their life savings by the worst financial criminal in history, Bernard L. Madoff. It is time the public learns the truth.

My Review:
I feel like a fool. I must have kept my head hidden under a rock during the Madoff scandal. I had no idea it happened until I read The Club No One Wanted To Join: Madoff Victims in Their Own Words. This book was definitely an eye-opener. It gave insight on the financial devastation that can happen to anyone at anytime. It also told stories of hope from survivors of the Madoff scheme. This book is told in first person point-of-view with stories told from the survivors, detailing their backgrounds, what happened to them, and how they are doing now.
I could go on and on with what I think is wrong with our government, but I won't spend the energy. I'm amazed that these people involved weren't protected when they blindly thought they were. The stories from individual survivors gives enlightenment on what happened to them and hope that they can carry on. It also opens up the eyes to corruption and greed.
