Random Tuesday Thoughts - The Extinction of Genuine People

If random thoughts are running rampant in your head, let them loose by participating in Random Tuesday Thoughts at The Un Mom.

My teenage daughter has hopped on the Responsibility Railroad and gotten herself a job. In the hopes of eventually being able to afford a car, she now works part time at Going Bonkers. It is a family fun center where kids can let loose and parents can lose their mind. I'm proud of Shelby; my little girl is growing up into a self-sufficient young adult.

Khakis are part of the job uniform at Going Bonkers. Shelby didn't have any on hand so I asked a couple of friends if they had any lying around that were just going to become dust rags. A couple of days later, one of those friends stopped by with a bag for Shelby. She went to Kohl's and purchased two pair of khakis for Shelby and even included a $10 gift card. I almost teared up at her thoughtfulness. Her reasoning was that a first job is something exciting and something to be proud of. I was definitely moved by the gesture, as was Shelby.

One of my supervisors says that my middle name is cynical. That's because I don't trust anyone any further than I can throw them. My mama pound it in my head that even those with the best intentions can turn around and eat you alive. I found that to be true. If I come across one more back-stabbing, hypocritical, truth-twisting person, my head is going to start spinning and I'm going to start spitting pea soup. Just sayin'.

My youngest son goes to the foot specialist tomorrow to go over the game plan on how to fix his hammertoes. From my understanding, he will either need surgery or his big toes broken and realigned. So please keep your fingers, and toes (sorry, bad pun), crossed that all goes well and any procedures are quick and relatively painless.

That was so sweet of your friend to do that for Shelby! She is right...first jobs are special!!
Love to see your head spin and the pea soup thingy! I'm just sayin'.
I will say a pray for your son. That doesn't sound pleasant whichever way they go. I will pray for painless for sure.
Great randomness!!

That was nice of your friend! And yay for your daughter for being responsible. We need more people like her in the world, instead of people relying on someone else to get what they want. And I hope you get good news about your sons situation.

That was very nice of your friend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your son. My husband had that procedure done about 20 years ago.

I remember my first job as a dishwasher, it's great to take responsibility and earn money. Can't remember what I did with any of it, LOL! Hope she enjoys it.

Here by way of Random Tuesday.

Congrats to Shelby on getting a job. And how sweet of your friend to bring over the khakis! THAT is a true friend!

Good luck on the hammertoe consultation. That doesn't sound very fun at all.

I agree with the whole trust issue, way to many back stabbers out there. Congrats to Shelby on the job and your friend for stepping in for you. I'll be thinking of your son.
