Letters To God - DVD Review & Giveaway

Movie Synopsis:

Letters to God is the heartfelt and inspiring story of what happens when one boy's journey touches the lives of his family, friends, and community. Hope is contagious in this uplifting new DVD arriving on August 10th from Possibility Pictures and Vivendi Entertainment. An intimate, moving, and often funny story, the film follows the path of a young child with terminal illness who becomes a warrior for hope and a champion to everyone around him. Surrounded by a loving family and community, the young boy takes comfort in prayers written as letters to God. These letters find their way to a conflicted postman who is at a crossroads in his life, searching for meaning. Featuring moving performances from Robyn Lively, Jeffrey S.S. Johnson, Tanner Maguire, Bailee Madison, Michael Bolton, and Ralph Waite, the film is a stirring tribute to faith, hope, and love through the eyes of a child.

Inspired by a true story, Letters to God received the highest Dove Approval Rating and an endorsement from the Parent Television Council.

My Review:

Get your Kleenex out for this one...I'm talking the whole box. By the end of the movie, the waterworks were flowing. Tyler, an eight-year-old boy with brain cancer, possesses great faith, bravery, and strength as he goes through his battle. Letters To God shows how divine intervention can bring people together to make a difference in each other's lives.

There is a strong message of prayer throughout this movie, and I like how it shows the positive and negative effects that may come about with cancer. For instance, Tyler's brother goes through feelings of abandonment and resentment while one of Tyler's classmates makes fun of him for having cancer. Death and dying are discussed in Letters To God, so children who have not yet come to those crossroads in their life may be a little disturbed.

After watching Letters To God, I was uplifted by its messages. I watched it with my husband and four girls. All of us agreed that it was a sad movie, but definitely one worth watching.

I learned that Possibility Pictures is not in business for the purpose of creating an experience that ends in 90 minutes but one that has the potential to ignite the hope for a deeper, more meaningful life.

I would have to say that Ghost is my favorite tear jerker movie. I'm envious that she gets to talk to her husband. My husband died (yesterday was 4 years) and I'd give anything to be able to talk to him. Or to have him talk to our son who just turned 9
