Wordful Wednesday - Memorial Day Weekend

Wordful Wednesday is hosted by Seven Clown Circus and gives the chance to showcase pictures with words.

I've been on a staycation of sorts, spending the last few days at the campground. We've been busy, busy, busy with the many activities that went on up there. I'm sure I gained five pounds from all the food that was cooked and devoured. Fishing, swimming, eating, and betting on Poker were just a few of the things we did. We also participated in a golf cart parade and golf cart games, danced and listened to a band, went on an Adult Scavenger Hunt, and socialized around campfires. There was a little drama here and there, but it was a wonderful time with family and friends.

This is part of the crew decorating one of the golf carts for the parade. We went around with other golf carts and passed out candy to the kids.

My daughter helped out a lot with the poker stand. I dealt cards for a while as well.

My son and niece played poker for a while. Adam didn't make a profit, but Stephanie went away with five dollars.

My sister put an embarassing picture of me on her blog once and I promised payback. Traci, this one's for you!

Here my two step-daughters are enjoying a meal from the Saturday evening carry-in. Campers brought in a dish and sat at the shelter house to eat and mingle.

Selling raffle tickets is one way that the campground makes money to raise funds for activities and fireworks. Sometimes that means being creative so get more people to buy. This weekend the raffle theme was a wedding. This is the "bride" and his "maid of honor". My husband played part of the preacher. It must have worked; quite a bit of money was raked in!

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend as well. It was loads of fun for me, but I have not forgotten what it's all about. I truly appreciate all those who have and who are fighting for freedom.
