Wordful Wednesday - Shelby's Sweet Sixteen

Today (Wednesday) is my oldest daughter's 16 year old birthday. We celebrated her birthday on Sunday with a gathering at the park. She said it was one of the best birthdays ever.

No, she did not and will not be receiving a car for her birthday. But her cousin was nice enough to buy her a Hot Wheels car to say she had a new set of wheels.

Shelby's grandma made a couple of collages for her. Shelby has hung them on her wall. She takes pride in her photos of her friends and family.

There's no shame in our game! Shelby's uncle and step-dad made out like they wanted their photo with her holding the cake. Once she lifted it up, they smashed her face in it.

The cake was demolished and all over Shelby! Thankfully, she took it all in stride. She's used to unexpected things happening with our family.

I used my sister's Cricut machine to make a poster for Shelby. Everyone at the party signed it with their sentiments.

This is my youngest step-daughter cheesin'. As you can see, she's been losing a lot of her baby teeth.

Shelby's grandma created a game of "Pin the Bow on the Present". Everyone in attendance was blindfolded and spun around. They then had to get close to the circle in the middle. A prize was awarded to the adult and the child who got it closest.

Shelby was steered in the wrong direction for the game and was pointed in the direction of the Port-a-Potty where she stuck her bow. Guess she should've gotten the booby prize! I forgot a blindfold so my niece took off her overshirt and we used it as an alternative.

Wow, my firstborn is sixteen years old! How the years go by! Shelby has brought me great joy and I'm very proud of her. Happy birthday, "my Elby".

Whoa - Is it bad that I laughed when I saw the picture of the cake being shoved in her face? Fun family!

She is gorgeous!!!
What a fun birthday celebration :) I loved all the pictures. Tell her it's okay that I got a hotwheels car for my 16th birthday instead of a real car too. Nothing wrong with the bus and getting rides with friends :)
