I'm all about teaching my kids the value of a dollar. Saving money and watching for deals is something that I'd like to pass on to them.
I will sometimes take my kids to the store and buy them a treat on my behalf, no strings attached. But, for the most part, they are expected to work for their money in the form of chores or doing helpful things for others. If there's something they really want, they know they need to save up most or all of the money to get it.

Moonjar is a company that helps kids of all ages learn about money and financial success. Managing money, hard work, strong financial ethics, and thoughtful decision making are the values behind Moonjar. They are committed to creating products that encourage communication and that empower children with basic life skills.

Conversations To Go: The Game That Questions Money has made for great conversation with me and the kids. There are 100 open-ended questions to draw out of the box. A lot of the questions are about money. A couple examples are "Name the most important job in the world. What is it worth?" and "Are there any jobs that ought to be done for free?" There are also other questions about family and feelings such as "What is it about your family that makes it different from others?"
This game has been great for roundtable discussion and the answers the kids have given are interesting. It is a way to get inside their heads as to how they think about money and other subjects. All six of the kids are easily able to join in and give their answers and they like being involved.

I gave The Classic Moonjar to one of my sons. This moneybox helps him see how much money he has and the end result. This three-sectioned moneybox is divided into Save, Share, and Spend. It includes a passbook to track transactions and he's been diligently writing in it when he gets money. The Classic Moneyjar has been helpful to him and he likes sorting his money into the three sections, determining how much is going to go into each.

What a fantastic idea! My 3 1/2 year old isn't quite ready to understand the concept of money, and I've been trying to think of non food (treats, like ice cream) rewards. I think this would be a great start! I like the conversations to go... very cool!
I follow your blog... however I don't think I noticed your giveaways on the right-side until you posted the winners of the last giveaways. Thanks so much for such fantastic giveaways :)

A gift that truly keeps on giving. Imagine raising kids that can build foundations for others, rather than running up their own credit card debt!
The Family Kit sounds like a great gift.
