Fantastic Mr. Fox - DVD Review & Giveaway

Movie Synopsis:

In the re-imagined classic family tale, Mr. and Mrs. Fox live a happy home life with their eccentric son Ash and visiting nephew Kristopherson. That is until Mr. Fox slips into his sneaky, old ways and plots the greatest heist the animal world has ever seen. When mean old farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean join forces to surround Mr. Fox and his family, they don’t realize they are not dealing with any old fox – it’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and he has a fantastic master plan to save the day! Based on the beloved best-selling book by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Fantastic Mr. Fox is family fun at its finest.



My Review:

Five of the kids spent Saturday evening watching Fantastic Mr. Fox. The 15 year old all the way down to the 7 year old enjoyed this movie. My oldest son liked it so much that he watched it again the next day and I watched it with him.

This stop-motion animated film is based on the Roald Dahl children's novel of the same name. I have never read the novel and neither have my kids, but a couple of the kids would like to see if they can get it at the library now that they've seen the movie.

George Clooney, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson are a few of the actors who lend their voice to the characters. The movie scenes were different than what we're used to seeing these days. It is a stop-motion animated film. The foxes seemed like they were stuffed animals that moved and talked and were placed into the scenes. The other animal characters looked more like real animals. Although it was in a format that I don't usually see, the movie was still put together well and was a delight to watch. The kids rooted for the foxes all the way and were glad to see the farmers get their due in the end. My kids suggested that the movie would be geared and most enjoyable for those aged 6 to 11. Logan said that the movie was "fantastic like Fantastic Mr. Fox".
