The Popcorn Factory - Review & Giveaway

I received a 2-gallon Falling Leaves Popcorn Tin for review. Immediately, I was drawn to the design on the tin. It is beautiful and I will be using the tin after it is empty. The tin is too pretty and durable to just be thrown away. Popcorn is a favorite snack of everyone in the family. Hands were on it as soon as it came in the door. We were all clamoring for our favorite flavor. The tin was filled to the brim, and included was butter, cheese, and caramel corn. The popcorn was fresh and tasted quite good. There were no complaints from any of us as we stuffed our faces with these kernels of goodness.

Pledge To Make Time For CHANGE

Aliens In The Attic - DVD Giveaway

Green men with attitude, a family that must pull together, and slapstick comedy are ingredients that help make up the movie, Aliens In The Attic.

I received Aliens In The Attic to review and was excited to watch it with the family. After seeing the previews, it looked like a movie the whole family would love. After seeing it, the vote was unanimous that this was a movie worth seeing. I found parts of the movie to be cheesy, but those same parts caused the kids to roar in laughter. My favorite character was Doris Roberts, who plays Nana Rose. Her matrix style moves were fun to watch. As I said, the movie was liked by the whole family. It did seem, however, that my 11 and 10 year old boys liked it the most. It had a sheriff, aliens, hi jinks, and action...all things that intrigue my boys.

Aliens In The Attic comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc November 3rd from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, just in time for Christmas.

Don't let the name fool you. Puppycatmeow is not a shop for your furry friends. Puppycatmeow is, in fact, an Etsy shop that specializes in all types of hair extensions and fantasy head wear. There is also a nice selection of bridal pieces.

I came across this shop when browsing Etsy for hair extensions to wear for a Halloween event. Once I stumbled upon puppycatmeow, I was mesmerized with all the fun hair accessories. I ended up purchasing a set of 2 hot pink 12 inch clip-in human hair extensions.

You can see me wearing the pink hair extensions in my anniversary post. I received my hair extensions in a very timely manner. Once I saw them, I knew I had a quality product on my hands. The hair extensions are made from 100% human hair and can be styled just as you would your own hair. They are easy to install and remove with the metal snap combs that are sewn in. At no point in time did I have to worry that my hair extensions would fall out and they were a breeze to put in. They blended in so well with my hair that people assumed I had dyed part of my hair with pink streaks.

This mannequin head shows how the pink extensions blend easily with a person's hair.



I also received, for review, the Art Deco Vintage Inspired Black and Silver Sequined hair comb. It is adorned with black sequins and embroidery. It adds a nice touch to a hairstyle and I have worn my hair comb many times. In fact, I'm wearing it right now as I post this.

Permission Slips - Book Giveaway

I'll be honest with you and let you know that I don't watch The View. I had no idea that Sherri Shepherd is a co-host on The View. However, I do know that I enjoyed reading her autobiography, Permission Slips. It was an easy read with lots of tips on how to give myself permission to give myself a break. I read through this book and it helped reiterate that it's okay if I don't lead a perfect life. Sherri gives stories from her own life and adds comedy to the mix. I was able to relate to some of the things she wrote about and I found myself laughing aloud while reading some parts. The book is empowering in a lighthearted way.

From what I've gathered, Lisa recently started a job as an accounting manager for a company. She is devoted to her adorable son and significant other. A cat, a bird, and a bunny are part of her family. She is like me in that she has tattoos, has piercings, is sporadic in her interests, and likes to read. She seems like a down-to-earth girl and prefers to wear the most comfortable clothes ever, jeans and hoodies.

Overkill Much

The other day some of my kids were having a Webkinz war. They got out every one of the boys' Webkinz and I took notice that they have way too many! The boys have close to 50 of these virtual creatures. And that doesn't count the ones that two of my step-daughters own. Granted, they play online with them and play with the stuffed animals themselves. But overkill is the first word that came to mind when I saw the stuffed animals all laid out.


But then I took inventory of how many DVDs I've purchased and own. Heck, I haven't even watched some of them. To argue for my side, most of them have been purchased at a discounted price being previously viewed. But I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didn't have a collection of unneeded purchases.



Even my teenage daughter has a collection obsession....books. These are books that she owns that she still has to get around to reading. She is a bookworm like her mama and enjoys curling up to a good book.


So, I'll leave the kids to their Webkinz and books. As long as there's no argument about my next DVD purchase.

Random Tuesday Thoughts - Almost Fright Night

It's Tuesday and that means another round of Random Tuesday Thoughts. Here's the thoughts that occupy my brain right now:

Just a few more days and it will be Halloween. I'm glad it's on a weekend this year, as there's no rush to shorten the festivities. I will be taking the kids trick-or-treating and attending a Halloween party.

I went to the movies the other night and watched "Stepfather". Went on bargain night so it wouldn't cost as much. Ticket prices were reduced and popcorn was free, but it still cost a lot more than I care to spend. The movies are a nice time out once in a great while, but I think I'll stick with renting DVDs for the most part. As for the movie, it was all right. Same ole' thriller plot, different character. It was predictable, but Dylan Walsh makes a great actor. He plays on Nip/Tuck. That show is one of my guilty pleasures. Full of raunch and manipulation, and oh so good.

The next night I rented "The Haunting in Connecticut" on DVD. Now that's a movie worth the screams. I wouldn't recommend letting the kiddos watch it (as I did not) but it's a great horror movie to get psyched for Halloween. Along with the movie theme, my husband came home after work last night bringing pizza and "Transformers 2".

I usually wait to buy movies until I can get them on sale at the video store as a previously viewed special. Unfortunately, the local video stores didn't have Transformers 2 for sale yet and we sooooo wanted to see it. In my opinion, it's worth paying full price for. Full of action and special effects. I liked the first one better, as it showed more of the Transformers characters throughout. But the second one didn't disappoint either.

I attended a birthday party for my sister last weekend and it gave me pause. I've always been thankful for my family. But that party, for some unknown reason, made me stop and think of how awesome my family is. We are all very strong-willed and opinionated, so sometimes it makes for disagreements. But I know I can always, no matter what, count on my family in time of need. We get together often and we have each other's backs. We put the "fun" in dysfunctional and I'm all right with that.

Crazy About Kaskey Kids - Review

My two boys don't share many of the same interests, even though they are close in age. So I am happy when I am able to find something that both of them like and something that encourages them to play together. The University of Illinois College Football Guys from Kaskey Kids has been something that does just that. Ever since receiving these sports action figures, the boys have come up with different variations of games to play with them and have used their imaginations to a great extent.

Kaskey Kids was founded in 2001 and includes action figures for the sports of football, baseball, soccer, and hockey. Kids can use their imaginations and create their own sports game with these action figures. They've kept my boys busy for hours and I particularly like that they come with their own carrying case. When something comes with many pieces, it's nice to have them all put together in one place. The carrying case also allows my boys to take the sports figures with them when on the go.

As you can see from this picture, the football field is set up just like a real one is. The action figures are set in different poses as real football players would be.

My youngest step-daughter has even gotten in on the fun by challenging the boys to football games. Kaskey Kids also offers sports figures designed for girls, like the girl soccer action figures. All in all, my kids are crazy about Kaskey Kids.

When it comes to angels, they are depicted in many shapes and forms. They have been represented in media, religion, and more. Thanks to Hachette Book Group, I was able to review a book copy of "Angels" by Chuck Fischer. This greatly detailed pop-up book was visual excitement. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the different stories, and it was quite a delight to see the detailed pop-ups. All of my kids checked out the book as well and were as pleased with it as I was. Wordful Wednesday - Tindusters

My Wordful Wednesday for this week is focused on a Tindusters show we attended Sunday at a local park. Tindusters showcases older model cars and draws thousands of enthusiasts. There were over 900 cars at the park and all proceeds went to a local camp for children with disabilities. To participate in Wordful Wednesday, link up at 7 Clown Circus.

This was one of Adam's favorites. It was neat to hear the kids point to the cars and talk about which ones they'd own and talk about all the hard work that must have went into restoring the vehicles.

Random Tuesday Thoughts - Back In The Saddle Again

It has taken me forever and a day, but I've finally gotten all my blog email subscriptions straightened out. For whatever reason, I quit receiving blog updates to my hotmail account. Therefore, I went to each and every blog I subscribe to and resubscribed to them through a new email account I have set up just for that. I did not realize how many blogs I subscribe to until I had to go to each and every one of them to resubscribe. But there's no complaints here. I'm happy to finally be able to get my blog updates again.

Talking about blogs, I have reached 200 followers. Yay me! A shout out to Ladybug Mama of 2 for becoming my 200th follower. Many thanks and appreciation to all those who follow and/or read this blog. There's a vast amount of blogs out there that are worthy of reading and it feels good to know that there are people who think mine is one of them.

These last few days have felt like fall. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to see any signs of autumn or go straight into winter. Finally! I can enjoy the autumn weather. Here's hoping it stays this way for a while. I'm not a fan of the cold or snow.

I brought home a hide-away loveseat yesterday. Hubby was none too thrilled, as he was the one who was going to have to move it to its proper spot. He got his I-told-you-so moment when it was found that the loveseat is not going to even fit in the doorway to the room I want it in. All hope is not lost because, as a woman with conviction, I will figure out somewhere to put it!
