Blog Hop - Ask A Question

This week's blog hop theme is "Ask A Question" where you ask your readers any question and invite them to leave a comment with their answer.

There are so many questions that I have for my readers, so I wasn't sure which one I should go with. After much thought, I decided I'd ask my readers about their holidays. Being that Thanksgiving and Christmas are quickly upon us, I'd like to know how you celebrate the holidays. Do you have any particular events planned? Do you hold any special traditions? Have you started your holiday shopping? Is there anything in particular you are wanting to give and/or get for the holidays?

I know that's a lot of questions, but they're all centered around the same theme. You can answer one or all. I'm interested in what you have to say. I'll even answer my own questions for those that are wondering.

I'll be spending Thanksgiving with my co-workers. I'm scheduled to work a 16 hr. shift. The good news is that my family celebrates Thanksgiving the Sunday before. I'll be going to my sister's house with my family and spending time with my loved ones. There's always a big feast.

The second Sunday in December all the girls in my family get together for our annual Candy/Cookie Making Day. We spend hours making and creating candy and cookies. It's a lot of work and very exhausting, but definitely worth it. We let the little ones help with the minor details. After everything is made, we divide the goodies up onto trays and take them home to hand out to friends, neighbors, and loved ones. We've been doing this for almost ten years now and it's a tradition that I hope continues for many more years.

Christmas Eve is spent at my sister's house with a large meal and gift exchange. We draw names on Thanksgiving for who we will be buying a gift for. The price range for each gift is around $25.

Christmas Day is spent at home with my husband and kids. We open up our gifts and watch movies. I sometimes take my Christmas tree down that night.

As for holiday shopping, I've started on my purchases but still have quite a ways to go. With six kids and others to buy for, it can be somewhat expensive and time-consuming. It seems like the holidays have come upon me way too quickly, and I'm not as prepared as usual. In the end, I'm sure everything will turn out wonderfully as it always does.

Now it's your turn; Leave a comment and let me know what your holiday plans are.

We be home for the Holidays because I hate up rooting my 1 and 3 year old but for 35 years now my mothers has baked over 3000 cookies 25-30 different kinds every year. We always go over to their house and decorate the sugar cookies. It just wouldn't be the Holiday season with out doing this!

My family has changed so much through the years, divorces, marriages, re-marriages, more children there really isn't anything that's the same every year for me except one. I have spent EVERY Christmas Eve of my entire 48 years with my Grama. Every one of them. Grama lives with my mom and my aunt and will be 95 this year and I will be there on Christmas Eve...as always!!

Our Christmas holidays are so full of traditions, that i will stick to Thanksgiving for this time.

Besides the large meal of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and other delicious yummies, my favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting to decorate the whole house for Christmas the day afterwards!

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to make reservations to a local restaurant so I don't have to cook. Then for Christmas I will be cooking for 11 people.

I started a tradition with my grandson to do a advent calendar at the start of Dec. 1st. I put a clue in a felt type advent Christmas tree and he has to find it. I tell him whether he's hot or cold. It's just something small each day leading up to Christmas. I also started doing Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class each year. This will be my third year.
