A Birthday Celebration

Two more of my children have celebrated birthdays. A joint birthday party was held last weekend for my son, Adam, and step-daughter, Juliann. The weather was scorching hot, but everyone had a good time. We celebrated at the local campground with a cookout and went swimming in the outdoor pool.

Adam turns 10 years old later this week. When his father and I divorced years ago, I think it affected him most. He went from being such a calm child to rebellious. He had anger within and wasn't quite sure how to express his feelings. He acted out in school and with others. It took a lot of time, but he's made a complete turn-around and I thoroughly enjoy the kid that he is today. He'll do anything that's asked of him and he is a joy to be around. Adam loves all things camping. He says he wants to own a camper when he grows up and travel around the world. He plays with his camping toys for hours.

Juliann turned 9 years old a few days ago. She's smart and giggly. Out of all the step-daughters, it took the longest for her and I to form a bond. But our relationship grows and I think we've got each other figured out now. If Juliann knows you, she'll talk your ear off. However, if she doesn't know you, she is very shy. I've never seen her outright misbehave. She's more of the sneaky type. She'll get the other kids to do things for her. Juliann likes to collect American Girl dolls and accessories and she likes all things frogs.

Wow! Six children, all another year older. I love watching the kids grow and seeing the world through their eyes. However, it seems like they're all growing up so fast and the thought of that absolutely scares me. I want to keep them with me forever and make time stand still so I can relish every minute with them. My baby days are over. I opted for a tubal years ago. I can't decide if that was a good decision on my part or not. At any rate, I'll take what I can get and enjoy every moment.

Happy birthday Adam and Juliann! Love you lots!

Looks like everyone had a great time. Did you get the Bake Me A Wish! cake on time? I'm wondering how you liked it.
